
On Tuesday, Kunle Oluomo, the Ogun State Speaker House of Assembly, was impeached. Eighteen out of the 26 members of the State Assembly voted for Oluomo’s impeachment during the plenary, citing allegations of gross abuse of power and corruption.

Abok Ayuba
Abok Ayuba was impeached as the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly on October 29, 2021. Sixteen out of the 24 members of the assembly passed a vote of no confidence in Abok Ayuba during the plenary through a voice vote.
Paul Emeziem
On November 8, 2021, Paul Emeziem was impeached as the Imo State House of Assembly Speaker. Mr. Emeziem’s removal followed a resolution signed by 19 of the 27 members of the house.
Chinedum Orji
The son of Theodore Orji, Chinedum Orji, was impeached on May 2, 2023, as the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly. He was impeached by 18 out of the 27 members of the House of Assembly.
Gboyega Aribisogan
Gboyega Aribisogan was impeached as the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly after spending six days in office. His dismissal was approved by 17 of the assembly’s 25 members.
Aliyu Sabiu Muduru
Aliyu Sabiu Muduru was impeached on February 15, 2017, as the Speaker of the Katsina House of Assembly. Twenty-three out of thirty-four members of the House passed a vote of no confidence in him.
Hon Jumoke Akindele
The Ondo State House of Assembly members impeached Hon Jumoke Akindele on March 9, 2016. She was impeached along with her Deputy. Eighteen out of the 26 members of the House carried out the impeachment.
Momoh Lawal
Momoh Lawal was declared impeached by five of the 25-member Kogi State House Of Assembly on February 16, 2016. He was replaced by Umar Umar, leading to a political crisis in the state that eventually resulted in the sealing of the State House of Assembly.
Abdulmumini Aminu
Aminu was impeached as Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly in 2018. He had become Speaker with the backing of the ruling APC, but his perceived closeness to the executive branch alienated a faction within the party, with the governor, over the allocation of funds, leading to a vote of no confidence and his subsequent impeachment.
Michael Olubunmi Adeyemo
Adeyemo, Speaker of Oyo state House of Assembly was impeached after he was accused of high-handedness and an imperial attitude towards his colleagues. 26 out of 32 lawmakers voted for his impeachment in July 2021.
Allegations of financial impropriety, abuse of power, and sidelining of other members.
Yakubu Dogara
Dogara, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Bauchi state, returned to his home state of Bauchi in 2019, hoping to replicate his national success. He was impeached in July 2022 for alleged incompetence and lack of transparency.
Abel Micah Mahan
Abel Micah of Plateau state was a short-lived speaker lasting a mere four months in 2021.
