NCAA offers support to rescue 32 aboard crashed aircraft

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has offered technical support for the ongoing search and rescue operation involving a Nigeria Air Force aircraft that crashed near Igbokoda, Ondo State.
The NCAA said about 32 people were on board the aircraft, identified as NGR931, which crashed in Igbokoda.
In a statement on Monday, the Director-General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, said the authority was closely monitoring developments and was ready to provide technical expertise and other assistance required for the rescue operation.
He said military aviation operations were outside the regulatory and operational mandate of the NCAA but stressed that the authority remained committed to supporting the national response to the incident.
“The NCAA stands ready to provide such technical expertise and assistance as may be required to support the ongoing search and rescue operations,” Najomo said.
The authority also expressed concern over the crash and extended its thoughts and prayers to personnel of the Nigeria Air Force, those aboard the aircraft, their families and others affected by the incident.
Najomo said the NCAA would continue to cooperate with relevant authorities and agencies in line with established national emergency response protocols.
“We remain hopeful for a positive outcome and pray for the safety and successful rescue of all involved,” he said.
