Group urges INEC to procure more vehicles to tackle logistic challenges

A Domestic Observer Group, under the umbrella of Gamji Members Association (GAMA), has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),
to procure more vehicles to tackle logistic challenges witness during the last Saturday elections.
The group however, has applauded the commission for the successful and peaceful conduct of the the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections held on Saturday, 25th February.
This commendation is contained in the group’s preliminary report made available to newsmen in Abuja.
The National President & Team Leader, GAMJI Observer Group, Dr. Abdullahi Bala Isa, said the group observed the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections in twenty-two States across the country.
He noted that having followed the laid down rules on observations, the team wish to make the following preliminary observations and positions: “The Independent National Electoral Commission has improved in comparison to the previous exercise in 2019”.
The report noted that the different stages of electioneering which includes trial, monitoring of party primaries, election conduct and declaration of results was generally better organized than the previous ones.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) needs to procure more vehicles for transportation of electoral materials instead of relying on hired and commercial means of conveying the electoral materials to avoid delays witnessed.
Efforts should be made to make arrangements that will see to the early arrival of electoral officials to voting locations”.
The group also, urged the commission to look at the deficient technicalities associated with BVAS as raised by Observers.
While congratulating the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a successful conduct of the exercise, the group concluded that “the election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was free and fair and an improvement on the ‘2019’ general elections”.
