Unknown gunmen attacked the convoy of senator repsenting Anambra South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah yesterday along Nkwor Enugu Market junction in Njikoka Local Government of the state.
Senator Ubah, according to the report gathered by ThisNigeria escaped death by the whiskers.
The report indicated that the lawmaker was saved because he rode in his bullet proof Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Jeep in a convoy during the attack on him by gunmen.
However, his personal aide and seven policemen attached to his convoy fell to the suspected assassins volley of bullets.
It was learnt that suspected assassins rained bullets on the convoy of Senator Ubah.
Mr. Kameh Ogbonna, Media Assistant to Sen Ifeanyi Ubah who confirmed the ugly incident disclosed that, “If not for the bullet Proof Jeep the Senator was ridding in, he would have been dead by now”.
According to Kameh, “This is an attempt on the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.
He explained that, “We were passing Enugwu Ukwu junction when they hit us in front and back, from all sides and as I speak with you Obum the special aide to the senator is dead and about seven security operatives were hit by the assassins bullet and they may have died.

It was not certain where Senator Ubah and his men were heading as at the time of the incident.
Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, DSP Ikenga Toochukwu who confirmed the attack in a statement last night said that the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command, CP Echeng Echeng led operatives to the scene of the sporadic shooting at Enugu Ukwu.
He pointed that CP Echeng had today (yesterday) led Operatives to the scene where sporadically shootings took place in Enugukwu.
He stated that,”Though the details of the incident is still sketchy, operatives are on ground there as operations is going on and the situation is being monitored.”
