The Plateau State Police Command said gunmen have killed three security personnel at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Mr Alfred Alabo, who disclosed this in a statement yesterday in Jos, said the incident occured in the early hours of yesterday.
“On a very sad note, the command wishes to confirm the incident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, June 16, involving security personnel on duty at NIPSS.
“Regrettably, three security personnel lost their lives during the incident.
“Security reinforcements have been deployed and patrols have been intensified around the general area.
“The situation is under control and normal activities have resumed within the institute,” he said
Alabo, who said the command had commenced investigation on the matter, called on members of the public to be law abiding.
Unconfirmed reports disclosed that the security personnel affected by the incident include two soldiers and a policeman. (NAN)
