Sunshine Stars team bus traveling to Edo for this weekend’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game against Bendel Insurance, came under attack by armed bandits on the Ore-Benin Expressway.
The club’s ball boy suffered a gunshot wound during the attack, which also saw the team manager of the club, other club officials and some players sustaining various degree of injuries.
Thanks to the intervention of operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corp, that came to their rescue.
According to source, all injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
As of the time of this report, no life has been confirmed lost.
