Police in Ananbra State have commenced an investigation into the deaths of unidentified persons at a nightclub in Oba, the Idemili North local government area of the state.
ThisNigeria learnt that the ugly incident happened on Sunday night.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident on Monday.
He disclosed that the attack took place at the Porsche Nightclub in Oba town.
Ikenga said “Yes, the incident happened. Our men were alerted, and they quickly moved to the scene of the incident, but the gunmen had already fled.
“Our men have recovered the bodies of the vigilante operatives who were fatally wounded, while others sustained various degrees of injury.”
“We have also fully deployed our men to Oba, and the operation is ongoing. So far, no arrest has been made,” he said.
An eye witness disclosed that the gunmen arrived at the nightclub, stating that they wanted to kidnap the club owner when security attempted to resist them.
“As a result of the resistance, the gunmen started shooting sporadically, killing many people in the process,” Ezefunamba recalls.
“They also beheaded one of the security men who resisted them from taking the owner of the nightclub,” he adds.
Another source stated that seven people were killed, and one security member had his foot cut off by the gunmen.
