By Cajetan Mmuta
A four-man gang of kidnappers with dangerous weapons has abducted the chairman of a vigilante group in the Ukwulu community in Anambra state.

The incident happened on Sunday morning when they kidnapped Mr. Kachy Ilodigwe, the Vigilante Chairman of Ukwulu Community, in Dunukofia’s local government area.

It was gathered that Mr. Ilodigwe was returning from church when the armed men stopped him with their car.

A source close to the area said: “They (abductors) then pointed a gun at him, shot into the air, and put him into their car.”

The kidnappers are yet to contact the family of the victim for possible negotiation for a ransom payment.

Ukwulu community has been volatile for some time now.

Last month, a citizen of the community was clubbed to death in a farm land in what looked like a land related issue.

The spokesperson for Anambra state police command DSP Ikenga Tochukwu when contacted said the command has not briefed with information about the incident.
