Suspected gunmen on Saturday reportedly killed a commercial driver plying Abuja-Ajowa-Akoko road, in Ondo state, Toyin Mala.
Sources said his lifeless body was brought to Ajowa in the night, causing tension in the community.
The victim was said to be coming from Abuja and on getting to Akunnu-Akoko took a road linking Akunnu with Efifa-Ajowan.
It was learned that on getting to Ago Jinadu, he ran into the bandits, and in an attempt to make a U-turn, he was gunned down, while some of his passengers escaped.
The whereabouts of others are yet unknown.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Okeagbe-Akoko, SP Paulinus Onnah confirmed the incident.
He said his men went to the scene of the incident to carry the corpse.
The regent of Akunu-Akoko, Princess Tolani Orogun expressed her worries over the nefarious activities of herdsmen and bandits in the area.
According to her, within a fortnight, two farmers were macheted at Ikakumo-Akoko by the herders.
The regent lamented that her people mainly farmers are scared and apprehensive about going to their farms.
