Three teams – Owena Kings of Akure, Tojemarine Academy and Bayelsa Queens – have continued their dazzling run at the ongoing National Division One Handball league taking place in Benin for qualification for the elite Prudential Energy Handall Premier League.
The teams continued chalking up victories in their respective matches on Thursday.
Owena Kings consolidated on their lead in the group B standings as they defeated Rivers Bullet 24-18, while Tojemarine maintained their lead in group A as they beat Confluence Snappers by 21-16.
Also on Thursday, the Correctional Boys maintained their second place position in group B with a 19-18 victory over Benue Buffaloes, while Adorable Stars were victorious over Suleja Shooters 29-24.
Similarly, it was victory all the way for Desert Warriors over Unity Boys of Abuja at 21-16, with Gateway edging out Mindscope 20-17, while Bayelsa United triumphed over Team Akwa Ibom 15-13 and Benue Buffaloes defeated Desert Warriors 17-14.
In the female category, Confluence Queens overwhelmed Gallant Babes 21-9, while Abia Valliants failed in their quest to return to the Prudent Energy Handball Premier league as their game against Mindscope Academy ended in a 21-21 stalemate.
Triumphant Confluence Queens chalked up another victory over Delta Force 13-11, and Bayelsa Queens consolidated their lead in the female category as they defeated Gallant Babes fn Anambra 20-12.
Meanwhile, a dejected Edo Stars continued their lacklustre performance with another 23-27 loss to Adorable Stars also on Thursday, making them the only team in the league that had lost all its matches.
The week long league is expected to climax on Saturday.
