How I had sex with over 80 ladies in Harare, Zambia – Hanks Anuku

Popular Nigerian-Ghanaian Nollywood actor, Hanks Anuku, has told Ghana’s City FM Radio how he contracted the Human Immunodeficiency Viruses (HIV), infected his wife with HIV and slept with 80 women in Harare, Zambia.

Recapitulating his sojourn in Zambia without his family in 2011 he said he took advantage of his celebrity status and that he engaged in sexual activities and slept with a lot of ladies.

He went on to say that he became an irresponsible husband and started drinking and making his wife take over the onus of taking care of his kids and family

“Life in Zambia was heaven on earth since we were able to enjoy life and go to different places, but I missed my family.” During that time, I engaged in a variety of s*xual activities and slept with a variety of women. When I returned home, I never looked after my family.

“I started drinking and became an irresponsible spouse, allowing my wife to shoulder the entire load

Speaking on how he got to know that he had contracted HIV he said that a girlfriend of his told him about her pregnancy while he was in Zambia and that she had gone for a test and was told that she was HIV positive hence he had to do same.

“One of my girlfriends told me about her pregnancy while I was in Zambia, so I got tested.”

“She had gone for pregnancy tests and was tested for HIV during that period, and the results were shocking: she was HIV positive. She compelled me to take the test, but I couldn’t accept the results.

“I returned to Zimbabwe after being tested and stayed quiet about the situation. I never mentioned the problem to my wife. I’m sorry I infected her. Later on, I underwent some counselling, which went well,”

“At the height of my popularity, I had s*x with around 80 ladies in Harare and Zambia.” Being on television in 2002 was incredible. I took advantage of my celebrity. To make matters worse, I lacked therapy and did not appropriately handle the situation.

Also in another interview with BBC Igbo the actor gave reason why he left Nigeria for Ghana

He said that  he finds Ghana more organised than Nigeria saying ”the electricity in Ghana is stable and I liked it. It was also easy to work there and progress.

“I found Ghana more organised. I don’t have time to condemn anyone but the electricity in that country is stable there and I liked it. It was also easy to work there and progress. That’s the truth,” he said.
