A yet-to-be identified couple have sustained severe burn injuries after the husband set his wife ablaze for allegedly leaving the marriage.

The incident happened on Saturday, July 2nd in the Abule-otun, Akute area of Ogun state.

According to reports, the estranged couple had been separated for months on issues bordering on domestic violence .

The husband, however, stormed the apartment of the wife, doused her in petrol and set her on fire.

The burning wife, upon seeing the husband’s intentions, grabbed him before he could leave the apartment and they both burnt.

The couple were rushed to the hospital and are currently receiving treatment.
