NDIC partners judiciary to fasten prosecution of failed institutions

By Anthony Otaru, Abuja

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Mr Bello Hassan, has said that the agency is strengthening massive collaboration with the nation’s judiciary to expedite prosecuting cases related to failed institutions nationwide.

Hassan explained that the moves have resolved long-standing cases and declared 100 percent liquidation dividends to uninsured depositors of over 20 closed banks.

He said alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms have also been employed to enhance our liquidation activities and improve debt recovery.

He made this known by answering journalists’ questions at an Abuja forum.

“I encourage depositors of any closed bank, especially Heritage Bank, who are yet to receive their payments, to come forward with their BVN, proof of account ownership, identification, and alternative account details claims can be submitted through various channels, including our website, email, and social media platforms, as we remain committed to ensuring the safety of depositors’ funds,” he said
