United Bank for Africa (UBA), Redtech, and MoMo PSB have launched a payment interoperability partnership to expand cardless payment access for consumers and merchants nationwide.

Redtech is backed by Heirs Holdings, while MoMo PSB operates as MTN Nigeria’s fintech arm.

With the new integration, MoMo PSB customers can now pay directly from their wallets at UBA merchant locations using the “Pay with MoMo” feature on RedPay POS terminals.

They can also visit any UBA branch to withdraw or deposit funds linked to their MoMo accounts.

For online transactions, e-commerce merchants can now receive payments from MoMo users via Redtech’s payment gateway.

The partnership combines Redtech’s payment infrastructure, UBA’s merchant-acquiring network, and MoMo PSB’s mobile wallet ecosystem to bridge gaps between bank-led systems and telco-driven mobile money platforms.

UBA’s Head of Digital Banking, Kayode Olubiyi, said the collaboration directly addresses long-standing challenges in cash transactions and card access.

“What this partnership represents is an honest and effective answer to the gap we identified in cash transactions and card access. By bringing Pay with MoMo into our network, we are connecting merchants to millions of MoMo customers while giving users more places to spend,” he said.

Redtech Chief Executive Officer, Emmanuel Ojo, said the initiative is designed to make payments seamless for everyday commerce.

“This partnership is about making payments work more seamlessly for everyday commerce. Our goal is to ensure that no merchant has to turn away any customer because of their preferred payment method,” he said.

On her part, Acting CEO of MoMo PSB, Omolara Michael-Nwadu, described the integration as a major leap toward interoperability.

“By integrating MoMo wallets into UBA’s merchant network through Redtech’s infrastructure, we are removing barriers between bank-led and mobile money systems and unlocking access to over 55,000 merchant touchpoints,” she stated.

UBA’s Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Alero Ladipo, highlighted the broader impact of the collaboration.

“Financial inclusion is not a slogan to us at UBA. It requires scale, technology, and ecosystem thinking. This partnership reflects that commitment,” she said.

The “Pay with MoMo” feature is already live on over 55,000 RedPay POS terminals across UBA’s network, which has processed transactions exceeding ₦278 billion and over 12 million transactions.

The rollout begins in Nigeria, with plans to expand to other African markets where UBA and MoMo PSB operate.
