The former Inspector General of Police and newly inaugurated Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Mr. Solomon Arase has said that he cannot work in a toxic environment.

The former IGP said this in Abuja, while addressing a press conference, after a marathon meeting with top management of the commission on Thursday.

He promised to bring his professional competence to bare in resolving the lingering crisis between the hierarchy of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), and the management of Police Service Commission (PSC).

He noted that under his watch, national security and national interest will subsume personality clash, perception over issue and clash over who perform certain statutory functions.

The Chairman of the Commission also pledged to put mechanism in place to curb the negative public perception of Nigerian Police Force (NPF).

He told crime reporters that negative public perception of the Nigerian Police is a narrative that must change.

He noted that his new role as the Chairman of the Commission, presents a wonderful platform for him to guide and mentor officers of the Nigerian Police to deliver maximally on their assigned duties.
