Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has revealed that he began engaging in spiritual activities as a teenager, saying he started “casting out demons” at the age of 17 or 18.
Okpebholo made the disclosure while speaking to young people during a church service at The Votage Church, where he reflected on his experiences as a young man and the challenges posed by cultism and insecurity.
“When I see young ones standing in the presence of God, I remembered at 17, 18, I’ve also started casting out demons,” the governor said.
Okpebholo said his experience as a young person had given him an understanding of the challenges associated with cultism and insecurity.
“Fighting insecurities, especially cultism, is not a new thing to me. It is something that has been happening,” he said.
The governor also recalled the influence of the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa, whose ministry, he said, formed part of his early spiritual experiences.
The visit provided an opportunity for the governor to speak about the role of faith and spiritual guidance in leadership.
The church’s lead pastor welcomed Okpebholo and prayed for the progress of Edo State, while also urging leaders to seek spiritual guidance and promote peace and development in the state.
