Ohanaeze Ndigbo alleges fraud in quest for Kanu’s release

By Seyi Odewale

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has called for an end to the deceptive tactics employed by Igbo political leaders about the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement signed by its Secretary General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the group alleged that some Southeast governors, Senators, and House of Representatives members, among others, are not sincere in their agitation for Kanu’s release.

It added that some South-East political elites exploit the dire situation of the geopolitical zone for their political gains.

“Unfortunately, many Igbo political leaders have proven to be renegades against the populace, feigning concern for the release of Nnamdi Kanu while manipulating the prevailing insecurity challenges to sustain their political positions and privileges.

“This deceptive behaviour is a betrayal of the Igbo people, and Ndigbo must recognize this truth”, it stated.

The statement regretted that “Unlike their counterparts in Afenifere, Pandef, and Middlebelt political leadership and Elders who prioritise the welfare and well-being of their people, these Igbo political leaders have shown a lack of genuine commitment towards the betterment of Ndigbo and ending the ugly situation of insecurity in the Southeast”.

“While there are a few honest Igbo leaders, they have unfortunately chosen to retreat”.
