Former Senator and human right activist, Shehu Sani has implored President Muhammadu Buhari and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele to save the naira from its continuous fall against the dollar.

Sani made the call via Twitter on Monday in reaction to the plan by President Buhari and Emefiele to redesign the naira as part of efforts to fight money laundering and strengthen it against the dollar.

Emefiele had announced the plan to redesign the naira, which was backed by Buhari.

However, the Minister for Finance, Zainab Ahmad revealed that she had no knowledge of such plan, adding that it would spell doom for the country’s economy.

Reacting, Sani tweeted “Where only the President and the CBN Governor can redesign the Naira; then the President and the CBN Governor should save the Naira”. he tweeted
