IGP laments police officers involvement in crime

The Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman on Tuesday lamented openly before men and officers of the Nigeria police, FCT command that he felt like crying anytime an officer is involved in criminality.

The IGP who was apparently referring to case involving DCP Abba Kyari warned police officers to desist from any act of criminality that will get them into trouble.

IGP Alkali Baba Usman who was addressing the police officers at the FCT police command during a one day working visit also frown at the illegal road blocks, raid and stop and search without authorization.

While calling for total cooperation with sister agencies, IGP Usman said police must get the people involved in community policing in order to get the needed assistance in fighting crime.

He also warned against corruption in the system and misuse of firearms.

IGP therefore called on Commissioners if police to as a matter of urgency organize a workshop for their men to study the newly signed Electoral act in order for them to know their role as law enforcement officers.

Earlier, Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Sunday Babaji called for adequate manpower, Inadequate patrol vehicles, trackers,Tear Gas Smoke, arms and ammunitions to enable the command performance ultimately.

CP Babaji also called for the Provision of10 Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC, Fifieen (15) Toyota Hilux, Forly (40) Motorcycles, Bullet-Proof Jackets/Ballistic Helmeta, and 1500 Walles-Talkies.
