Ihekweazu’s WHO job a great choice, a big loss to Nigeria – Okonjo-Iweala

World Trade Organisation’s Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has said that the appointment of Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as one of those who will lead the World Health Organization (WHO) Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence based in Berlin, Germany is a big loss to Nigeria.

The WTO DG on her verified Twitter handle congratulated Ihekweazu and the World Health Organization saying: “A great choice and a big loss to Nigeria. Wishing you the best in the new assignment!

The outgoing German Federal Chancellor, Dr Angela Merkel, and the WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, inaugurated the hub on Wednesday to better prepare and protect the world from global disease threats.
