As election into the executive board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) fast approaches, a former Nigerian international and football analyst, Peterside Idah says he is the best qualified for the position of president.
Election into a new NFF board holds on September 30 with more than six candidates expressing interest to via for the position of president, presently occupied by the Amaju Pinnick who has already confirmed his withdrawal from the run.
Idah, a former national team goalkeeper said in an interview that Nigerian football has suffered huge setback in recent times because it’s administration has been left in the hands of wrong administrators.
The former Moroka Swallow FC of South Africa safe hands maintained that with his international connections and load of experience he would turn around the fortune of Nigeria football for the better if given the chance.
“What am I bringing that’s different that would take Nigerian football to the next level, that’s what I bring. My international connections, I have played the game, the players know me, I know the players, I know the terrain and is as simple as that.
“This is not the time to look at one region or the other region. It’s to look for who is capable. A lot of people think is money game, we can be spending and wanting to improve, no it should be competence and that’s my thinking. Who can do the best, let’s give him the job,” he said.

And when told he has no administrative experience, Ndah fired back: What does that mean by what have you achieved? Just wearing the national Jersey is an achievement. Playing for Nigeria is an achievement on its own; where you have about 200 million people and you play for Nigeria that’s an achievement.
“I’ve close to 15 caps for the national team, I played in the league, is all about football. I played for the best sides in Nigeria; I played for Enyimba, I played for Rangers, I played for Bcc Lions of Gboko and Sharks of Port Harcourt, these are top teams in Nigeria, so what achievement do they want. I played football that’s what qualifies me. What about others that are contesting. Where did Shehu Dikko play, where did Akinwunmi play and others what have they achieved for Nigeria. These are people contesting with us, why don’t them ask them these questions, what have you achieved for Nigeria. I’ve played for Nigeria is a plus for me. I served as a media officer of the Super Eagles is a plus for me. I’ve been in the media spade is a plus for me, I’ve the education and I’m a Nigerian that’s what qualify me and these should be what people should look for,” he added.
