The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday presented the certificate of return to the Ekiti state governor elect, Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye.
The certificate was presented by the the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Ekiti, Oyo and Lagos States, Mr Sam Olumekun at the commission’s office in Ado Ekiti in line with the provisions of section 72(1) of the new electoral act. .
Oyebanji pledged not to disappoint the people of Ekiti who have entrusted him with the responsibility of governing them ,and to also faithfully implement his six-point agenda.
Dignitaries at the event incudes Ekiti State First Lady, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, Speaker Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye, wife of the Governor- elect, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, husband of the Deputy Governor-elect, Mr Afuye; former deputy Governor Surveyor Abiodun Aluko, Ekiti APC Chairman, Barr Paul Omotosho, and other party leaders.
He added that the victory given to him by Ekiti people was a testament of Governor Kayode Fayemi stunning administration, adding that it was validated by the massive votes freely given to the APC during the election.
He further commended President Buhari for providing a great platform for all the contestants to have a fair contest during the election.
He said “Ekiti Kete we thank you all for investing your trust in us, in our party, what is happening today is historic in Ekiti State, this is the first time that the Government will be succeeding itself and I make bold to say that this is made possible by the sterling performance of Governor Kayode Fayemi because June 18 was a referendum on Governor Kayode Fayemi as governor of this state and Ekiti State came out and validated the fact that he has done so well.
“I will do my possible best to ensure that we don’t disappoint you, we have a six point agenda which is a blend of what we are doing now and our ambition and we will remain faithful in its implementation.”
