Nigerians call for protest on June 12 Democracy Day

Some Nigerian are calling for a nationwide protest come June 12 2021 over the rising and rising cost of living in the country and insecurity that have pervaded the nation.

Last 2018 President Muhammad Buhari declared June 12 Democracy Day in hounor of the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 Presidential election, and to mark the day the military handed over power to an elected civilian government in 1999.

According to reports that ThisNigeria is following on Twitter, many are calling for the protest in order to show their dislike for the way the nation is currently been governed and that there is nothing to celebrate.

No plans to hike petrol price in June – FG

Another user of the social media application @AbiodunLijofi said: ‘We will not bow to dictatorship, and our struggle for liberation is unshaken. #June12Protest.

He also said ‘Naira is at its worse, students are getting kidnapped, southern Kaduna and Benue indigenes have become victims of organized massacre #June12Protest, adding that , As far as June 12 is concerned, there is nothing to celebrate. We have no democracy and we never got it. But lo and behold, Buhari made it worst and so he #June12Protest
