INEC trains Supervisory Presiding Officers in States for Bye Election

The Independent National Electoral commission, INEC, has said it had commenced training of Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs) on Polling and Counting Procedures in Preparation for the remaining bye election in states in October, 31st.
The training which is designed to equip this participants was released on the social media handle of the commission for better guide.
The two days training is organized by the Electoral Institute, the department charged with the responsibility of training in INEC.
It further noted that the objective at the end of the training is that participants should be able to demonstrate the ability to organize and conduct training on Polling and Counting and effectively perform the electoral functions of SPOs in line with the ” First Supplementary Guidelines and Regulations to Elections and the INEC Policy on Conducting Elections in the Context of COVID -19 Pandemic.”
The DG, TEI, who was represented by the HOD, Training, Mr. Agoha Ifeanyi said he welcomed participants and advised them to be non partisan in the discharge of their duties.
He also charged them to ask questions where necessary and to be active participants as the training is being conducted during a Pandemic and therefore it is important to ensure safety of all participants and guarantee quality step down of the training for Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs).
According to the statement: ” Participants adhered to the PTF/NCDC guidelines by ensuring social distancing in sitting arrangements, wearing of face masks and use of Hand sanitizer in the 11 classes. Before declaring the Training, the Hon. REC, Bayelsa State, Dr. Cyril Omoregbe, urged the participants to be of good conduct when selected for the task ahead.
“The Training will also highlight among others; the Voters Code of Conduct for Elections during the COVID-19 Pandemic as well as the Mock practice of the Revised Accreditation Process which involves the use of the Smart Card Reader (SCRs) for accreditation of Voters and the use of Z-PAD in the Upload of Polling Unit Results (scanned form EC 8A) on Portal for Public View”, it noted.
