Bauchi state has been described as the safest place in the entire northern region in terms of security by the Senior Special Assistance (SSA) to Governor Bala Mohammed on security, Hon. Umaru Aliyu Alkaleri.

He noted that Bauchi is the most secured state within the nineteen northern states in the federation, he attributed to the support and encouragement the state government under the able leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed has been giving to the security agencies in the state.

The SSA who stated this while fielding questions in Bauchi from journalists called on district, village, and ward heads to continue to give all necessary support and cooperation to security agencies towards making Bauchi the most peaceful state in the federation.

Alkaleri said that his state branch office of the Hunters Growers Association of Nigeria has its members been operating 24/7 in the drive to making Bauchi a security-free challenge state in the country.

He explained that the Bauchi hunters’ association which has about 10,000 operatives under tutelage, was saddled with the responsibility of patrolling all nooks and crannies of the state in order to make citizens sleep with their eyes closed.

According to him, the state office of the association at Inkil alone has about 200 operatives on 24/7 shifts waiting for possible distress calls from any quarter of Bauchi metropolis for a prompt response.

The hunters, he stated, normally engage in joint operation patrols with men of other security agencies, especially when following a clue to the den of men of the underworld with whom they slag it out dispelling them while making a possible arrest.

Hon. Umaru Alkaleri stated that during such raids, they encounter hardened criminals such as armed robbers and kidnappers, usually make arrests and hand over the culprits to the police who charge them to courts.

Alkaleri however cautioned some prosecutors and lawyers whom, he alleged, connive together to change initial statements made after the arrest with a view to facilitate easy bail grants or even set the accused free.
