Insecurity in Kogi: Jaywon, Reps aide clash

Popular Kogi-born singer, Jaywon has clashed with Opeyemi Duke, an aide to Arc Salman Idris, the member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu constituency in the Green Chamber.
The duo clashed over the issue of insecurity in the state and an allegation that the singer takes monetary gifts from Kogi politicians.
In a post he made on Facebook, Jaywon warned Duke to stay away from him and his brand or face the music of his disobedience.
He claimed that Duke is a political tool to distract the youths in the state and dull their sense of reasoning.
The singer wrote, @Aderayo Opeyemi duke, I’m not entirely sure who he is, but he strikes me as one of the many political puppets used in Kogi to distract the youth and dull their sense of reasoning. I assume he’s from Okun based on his name, but if he is, that makes his silence even more disgraceful. While our people are being killed and kidnapped, voices like his are nowhere to be found. They have nothing to offer their communities except stomach infrastructure and empty allegiance.
“If you know him, kindly let him know to keep my name and my brand far from his mouth. I’ve said it before, and I’ll repeat it, I have never taken a dime from any politician in Kogi State. In fact, some of them still owe me money. So if anyone’s planning to mix my name with nonsense for clout or politics, just know you’ll get a direct response. I don’t play that game.”
Responding to Jaywon, Duke insisted that Jaywon took monetary gifts from Kogi politicians, claiming that in 2014, Oladele Nihi, the SA to Governor Usman Ododo, and himself paid Duke to campaign for Former Senator Smart Adeyemi.
He said, You chose to call me out because I corrected you on the fact that you said you’ve never taken money from any politician. You know that’s a pure lie. In 2014, Oladele John Nihi and I mobilised you to Lokoja to campaign for Senator Smart Adeyemi. You took several monies from him and even printed T-shirts with the proceeds. You might pretend not to remember me, but that’s okay. I don’t care about you either.
“Yes, Kogi State is facing serious security issues, like every other state, and I’m aware of the government’s efforts to address it. I live in Abuja but visit Kogi at least once a month. When was the last time you visited Kogi State to know the measures being put in place? It’s easy to make noise on social media without any concrete impact. No one is happy about the situation, but it’s not a reason for you to call out everyone trying to offer explanations.
“I wish what you’re doing was borne out of genuine love for the state. You could have done it differently and listened to explanations on what’s being done. However, all this noise is because of a lack of government patronage. It’s not anyone’s fault that your so-called musical career is dying at a geometric rate. I advise you to concentrate on reviving your musical career and get out of politics. Perhaps you can join politics later if you truly want to. This your format don cast.”
In his reaction, Jaywon claimed he was paid for his services of performing for them, which was his right.
