Insecurity: Kogi politician drags Jaywon to court, demands N100m compensation

The rift between popular singer, Jaywon and Opeyemi Duke, an aide to Arc Salman Idris, the member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu constituency in the Green Chamber has taken a new dimension.

The politician sued the Kogi-born singer, demanding an apology, retraction of his statement and a N100 million compensation.

The rift between the two Okun-born kogites started after Jaywon’s recent Facebook post in which the singer criticised the Kogi State Government regarding insecurity in Okun land.

Sharing the information online, Duke wrote, “Dear Jaywon Oba Orin, this is a pre-action notice from my lawyer. I am sure he has served you electronically but I need to post it here and tag you so you won’t deny receiving it. We will surely have a court date should you fail to do the needful. I wish you the very best.”

In the lawsuit, the politician’s lawyer attributed a statement to Jaywon, where he allegedly referred to their client as a “corporate better in the National Assembly”.

Aside from the N100 million compensation, the lawyers also demanded that Jaywon publish his apology on his Facebook page and two national newspapers with nationwide publication.
