Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has expressed concern over the assassination of a former Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army, Major General Hassan Ahmed.
Ahmed was killed by unidentified gunmen along Lokoja-Abuja on Thursday night.
The incident was confirmed in a statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, on Friday in Abuja.
“With a heavy heart, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, Officers and Soldiers of the Nigerian Army regret to announce the passing on of Maj.-Gen. Hassan Ahmed, a former Provost Marshall of the Nigerian Army.
“A delegation from the Army Headquarters led by the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Maj.-Gen. Anthony Omozoje has visited the widow and other members of the bereaved family.
“Members of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) led by the Deputy National President, Mrs Stella Omozoje, have also visited the family to condole with them,” the statement read in part.

Shehu Sani, while reacting to the incident via Twitter, said that the assassination tells all about the security situation of the country.
He tweeted: “The killing of Major General Hassan Ahmed and the kidnapping of his wife right in Abaji, Abuja is sad, unfortunate and tragic.
“That this can happen to a man of such ranking within the vicinity of the capital city tells it all. May he rest in Aljanna firdausi. Amin.”
