A monarch in Ondo state, Olumoru of Imoru in Ose local government , Oba Rotimi Obamuwagun has urged the federal government to tackle the issue of insecurity with all the seriousness it deserves for safety of the citizenry.
Oba Obamuwagun made the call while commenting on the security situation in the country.
The monarch, who was the former Vice President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,Zone B, said banditry and kidnapping were still rampant in some communities in the country, noting that adequate security would accelerate the development of the country.
The first class traditional ruler lamented that criminals were still terrorising Ose communities, kidnapping indigenes, raping women and girls and maiming farmers.
Oba Obamuwagun however lauded Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the establishment of the Amotekun security outfit which he said was complementing the efforts of the conventional security agencies in the state.
Besides, he praised the media for reporting the spate of crime in the country especially in the northern part of the country where the banditry and kidnapping had continued unabated.
Oba Obamuwagun said traditional rulers in Ose local government appreciated the media for prompt reportage of events in the state.
