Killings: Benue needs its own Sunday Igboho – Reno Omokri

Tobi Adebayo
A former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has said that Benue state needs a human rights activist like Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Sunday Igboho in order to put an end to the incessant killings in the state.

Omokri said this in reaction to reports that Fulani herdsmen killed about 36 Benue indigenes on Thursday.

“Except Benue gets their own Sunday Igboho, these almost daily attacks that have characterised #BenueUnderAttack will continue to happen. If Benue people clash with cows, General @MBuhari will ALWAYS side with cows. Benue needs an Igboho that will side with them,” Reno Omokri tweeted.

Nigerians are trending the #BenueUnderAttack hashtag on Twitter, sharing gory pictures of people reportedly killed by Fulani herdsmen and condemning the President Muhammadu Buhari administration over its silence on the killings.

A Twitter user, @aproko_doctor tweeted: “We can’t fold our hands and watch anymore. #BenueUnderAttack. People are being killed in their homes and lands and the government is watching. This is a ticking time bomb. Protect all Nigerian citizens!”

Another tweep, @fs_yusuf wrote: “They don’t know d deep story behind the Israeli-Palestine continuous clash but they’d be fast to trend #FreePalestine. They know very well about d genocide going on in Benue State but u won’t see them lending their voice to #BenueUnderAttack I love it when we all stop pretending.”
