Anambra guber: PDP aspirant, Ozigbo, optimistic of victory

By Cajetan Mmuta, Awka
A frontline Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Governorship aspirant for the forthcoming November 6 election in Anambra state, Chief Valentine Ozigbo on Friday urged the party’s ad-hoc delegates whose participation in the party’s governorship primary was suddenly suspended due to intraparty crisis in the state not to despair.

He assured the delegates that the party would emerge victorious in the governorship poll.

Chief Ozigbo told the eight delegates already selected from each of the 326 wards, and, those from the 21 local government areas of the state to participate in the governorship primary election

However, the delegates were later dropped by the party’s national leadership, barely two days to the conduct of the election

It was learnt that few people in the party have decided to cause the confusion within party.

Ozigbo assured the delegates that the “super delegates” approved to vote in the election would definitely select a credible person who can win the governorship election for the party come November in the state.

Addressing the disenchanted PDP delegates at Cana House, Awka, the state capital ahead of Saturday’s governorship primary, Ozigbo expressed optimism that he would eventually emerge as the candidate of PDP for the governorship election, and, “we will fix 9Anambra state, and, make it a pride of place to be”.

” Whether you voted tomorrow or not in the primary know it that you are critical for PDP in this election; you are PDP ambassadors; we know those who are responsible for this crisis in our party, and, we shall address them at the appropriate time”, Ozigbo told the PDP stakeholders.

He said he had decided to meet with them notwithstanding that they had been dropped from participating in the primary to prove to them that they are still very critical stakeholders in the party because they are grassroots-based.
