The joint security taskforce dealing with the worrisome insecurity across parts of Anambra state has killed the leader of a deadly transborder criminal gang, and other members terrorizing people of the state
The leader of the four-man criminal gang, who also indulge in spate of kidnappings and other violent crimes, is popularly known as Odumodu.
Odumodu is said to be behind many Trans-Border criminal activities in Imo and Anambra States.
It was gathered that the deadly kidnapper, who runs a gang, operates from a camp in Imo State, from where he comes into Anambra to carry out his criminal activities.
Mr. Christian Abutime, the Press secretary to Anambra State governor, Prof Charles Soludo, in a statement said Odumodu was gunned down on Wednesday by security forces in Anambra State, while the gang members were on operation.
Aburime said: “The dreaded Odumodu, leader of a criminal gang, operating from Imo state into border towns in Anambra was gunned down by the gallant Anambra security forces, with four others members.”
According to the governor’s media aide, “One Ak47 and four Pump Actions were recovered from the criminals by the gallant Security Forces.”
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga was yet to confirm details of the incident as at the time of this report.
