Two bakery workers accused of stealing five loaves of bread from their employer have been sentenced to community service.
The Lagos State Ministry of Justice secured the sentence through the Ministry’s Restorative Justice Centre (RJC) in collaboration with the Non-Custodial/Community Service Centre.
The case, which initially appeared before a Magistrate’s Court, was diverted after a District Prosecutor, applying the Ministry’s sifting process, referred both parties to the RJC instead of pursuing formal prosecution.
During mediation at the centre, the employer and the accused workers reached an agreement that the offenders would serve two weeks of community service, which commenced immediately.
