The Speaker of Imo State Assembly, Paul Emeziem has been impeached by some lawmakers on Monday.
According to reports, the 19 lawmakers led by the impeached Deputy Speaker, Amara Iwuanyanwu stormed the house and removed Eziem.
It was learnt that the lawmakers immediately elected Kennedy Ibeh as the new speaker.
Ibeh, who represents Obowo State Constituency, was suspended for “unparliamentary conduct” by Emeziem on July 8.

Speaking after the drama, Emeziem described the move by the lawmakers as “childish.”
He added that he had not been removed as today was not the Assembly’s plenary day.
Recall that a similar incident rocked Plateau State House of Assembly when Honourable Abok Ayuba, was impeached by some lawmakers on October 28.
