KADSEMA donates relief materials to fire victims in Zaria

Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) has donated relief materials to victims of fire outbreaks in Tudun Wada market, Zaria Local Government Area of the state.

The agency’s Executive Secretary, Muhammed Mukaddas, distributed the materials to the beneficiaries on Friday in Zaria.

The items distributed included: 50 bags of rice, 50 bags of garri, 30 bags of beans, 50 bags of sugar, five bags of salt and 20 bags of maize.

Others were: 20 bags of millet, 10 cartons of sardine, five sets of sewing machines and five sets of grinding machines.

Mukaddas said that SEMA distributed the materials with the hope that the gesture would bring relief to the victims and alleviate their suffering.

“We find it necessary, following our assessment, to extend our sympathy to the victims who were affected by the fire that burnt their property on Dec. 9,” he said.

Vice Chairman of Zaria local council, Dahiru Shaibu, who received the items on behalf of the victims, commended the state government for the intervention.

He assured the agency that the materials would be distributed to the victims.

Shaibu called on the state government to use its channel of communication to educate residents on how they could handle fire, especially during the dry season.

The officials of the agency had earlier visited Wuciciri community within the council area to sympathize with residents who were attacked by bandits, during which four persons were kidnapped and property carted away.

“This visit is part of our assessments, after which we will return to provide succour to the community,” Mukaddas added.
