Kaduna state cricket association holds clinic for 7,000 Students

 A total of  7,000 students from 17 selected schools are participating in a one-day Cricket  Clinic in Kaduna.
The clinic is being organized by the State Ministry of Sports Development, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Sports, for students of different age groups.
Speaking during the clinic, Head Coach of Kaduna State Cricket Association, Joseph Onoja-oche, said the students would be taught the rudiments of the game.
He said the programme was aimed at accelerating the growth of cricket in the state and encourage children to engage in sporting activities.
He said knowing the rudiments would help them imbibe some of the principles of the game, which is good for their development.

” It is also important to understand that a child actively involved in sports is not likely to get into anti-social and criminal activities, “he said.
According to him, competitive cricket is essentially a bat and ball sport, played by two teams on an oval and involves batting, fielding, and bowling.

He listed endurance and stamina, balance and coordination, physical fitness, and improving hand-eye coordination, as part of the health benefits of the cricket game.
