Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced a competitive development initiative among Local Government Chairmen to accelerate grassroots projects across the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, yesterday.
During the Hawan Nasarawa celebrations at the Government House, Governor Yusuf emphasised his administration’s commitment to rural transformation, stating that local government leaders must actively drive development.
“We have introduced a competition where every Local Government Chairman must present and execute development projects within a stipulated timeframe. Once a chairman submits a viable project, funds will be released immediately. Those who deliver on time will be allowed to take on multiple projects,” he stated.
The governor also warned underperforming chairmen to wake up to their responsibilities, stressing that his administration will not tolerate delays in project execution.
Governor Yusuf made these remarks as Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II urged the state government to provide more financial support to local governments.
In response, the governor affirmed that his administration prioritises rural development and is ready to support well-planned projects.
The initiative aims to foster healthy competition among Local Government Chairmen, ensuring efficient service delivery and impactful development across Kano State.
