The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) on Friday said its customers in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States will experience a decline in power supply due to maintenance on Makurdi – Jos power transmission line.
KEDCO, in a statement through its Head of Communications, Mr. Ibrahim Sani-Shawai, said as a result of this development, KEDCO’s load allocation had been reduced from 365MW to 238MW, necessitating load shedding.
“Maintenance work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on 330KV Makurdi-Jos Line has commenced and is expected to finish Oct. 9.
“This is to ensure efficient and effective power reliability, as well as the need to provide an environment where public safety risks are minimized,” he said.

Sani-Shawai appealed to its customers in Kano to embark on efficient energy management during the maintenance period to minimize the impact of load shedding on social-economic activities of customers across Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States.
“Customers should switch on only essential load to conserve energy and allow optimum utilization of the available energy during the period.
“We will ensure that our customers enjoy improved services as soon as the maintenance works are completed,” he said.
