Kano PDP Crisis: Court Legitimises Kwankwaso’s faction

A Federal High court sitting in Gyadi Gyadi Kano on Wednesday dismissed the suit filed by an aggrieved faction of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP led by former minister of foreign affairs, Aminu Wali challenging the exco elections held across the state.
The aggrieved faction told the court that the party faction led by former Kano state governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso hijacked the conduct of the state exco election and had exempted their group from the conduct of the elections .
The applicants urged the court to pronounce the election that installed the incumbent state PDP exco and at all levels as null and void.
The Kwankwasiyya faction of the opposition party prayed the court to dismiss the suit for lack of merit and locus standi.
In his judgment, the presiding judge, Justice Lewis Allagoa held that the aggrieved group filed their case out of time, the court ruled that the suit challenging the state PDP party over the election conducted by the Kwankwasiyya faction was filed 85 days after the elections were held , noting that the action contravened the provisions of the law.
