The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has vowed to prove to the world that the Federal Government ‘s disgraceful outing on November 14, 2022, to the court under the guise of a shambolic trial of their leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu on new amended charges is a smart way to write off and allegedly collect over N500million from the national treasury by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Mr. Abubakar Malami.
According to the group, the said money is the sum the minister usually claims he spends on security any time their leader comes to court.
The IPOB in a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, yesterday said: “We told the world that the purported new charges and re-arraignment of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu that took place on 14th November 2022, before the Hon Justice Binta Nyako is a fraud designed to fleece the staggering sum of five hundred million naira from the Federation of Nigeria’s account,” adding that it has been established that no court in Nigeria can try their leader anymore on any charges.

According to Powerful, “this is a fact founded in extant law as clearly prohibited by the Court of Appeal in Mazi Nnamdi Kanu vs. the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN).”
He said: “Today was a joke both legally and otherwise. The only thing that could have motivated the sham arraignment on non-existent charges is the opportunity to deplete the already depleted funds in their national coffers.”
IPOB said the public should ask Malami what he has achieved with the stunt over fake new charges and more importantly to explain how he disbursed half a billion naira he allegedly collected on the account of providing security around Binta Nyako’s court.
