The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to be cautious of his political alliance with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, claiming it could jeopardise his chances in the 2027 presidential election.
Ayodele, in a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, alleged that Obi was pursuing his presidential ambition with excessive desperation and had failed to recognise the political risks surrounding his current alliances.
The cleric claimed that Kwankwaso was not genuinely committed to Obi’s political aspirations and warned that the former Kano State governor could eventually act in his own interest at Obi’s expense.
“Peter Obi doesn’t listen to divine instructions, and because of this, he has fallen into the wrong hands for his ambition,” Ayodele said.
He further alleged that Kwankwaso had already weakened Obi’s chances of emerging successful in the next presidential election.
“Kwankwaso isn’t ready to fight for him; he will eventually sell him out, but he doesn’t know it yet. He has already muddled Obi’s presidential ambition,” he stated.
According to the cleric, the former Kano governor’s political calculations are driven primarily by personal interests rather than a commitment to any joint political project.
Ayodele maintained that his comments should not be interpreted as hostility towards Obi, whom he described as courageous, but argued that the former Anambra State governor was not yet adequately prepared for the nation’s highest office.
“Kwankwaso is doing everything for his personal interest and nothing more. I wish Obi’s eyes could be opened to what is happening around him, but he can’t see it.
“I don’t hate Peter Obi, I love him and his courage, but he is not yet mature for the position he is seeking,” he said.
The cleric also predicted that Kwankwaso’s intentions would eventually become clear, but suggested that Obi might realise it only after significant political damage had been done.
“Kwankwaso’s plans will soon be exposed, but it will be too late for Peter Obi because he has gone very deep into it,” Ayodele added.
