Kwara committed to security of lives and property – PS

The Kwara State Government on Friday said it was committed to the security of lives and property in all parts of the state.
Hajia Halimat Eletu, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Enterprise, disclosed this while addressing stakeholders on the reformation of the market security, environmental sanitation and the operational hours at the Ultra-Modern Market, Adewole, Ilorin.
Eletu advised the stakeholders to be conscious of the security in the market, especially during its operational hours.
She was optimistic that the new security arrangement would check the influx of criminals into the market and curb their activities.
The permanent secretary, however, cautioned the market association against unapproved shops/kiosks extension and the erection of illegal structures on the drainage.
Eletu also advised them to ensure clean environment good health maintain peaceful coexistence.

According to her, the traders should collaborate to provide lasting solutions to the environmental sanitation and other challenges facing the market.
Earlier, the Iyaloja of the market, Hajia Funmilayo Babakobi, lauded the state government for coming to their rescue as regards security and other environmental challenges.
She highlighted some of the past efforts of the market association such as the provision of potable water and stable electricity.
Babakobi requested for extra water pipes from the state government to aid the channeling of water to all other axis in the market.
