The Rivers State women’s wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced an aggressive grassroots mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2027 elections, urging women to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the electoral process.
The mobilisation was launched at a Tinubu-Shettima 2027 Grassroots Mobilisation and Voter Sensitisation Programme in Rivers State, organised under the theme, “My PVC, My Power.”
Hon. Precious Alechi Iyeuwa, who represented the Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, urged eligible women to begin mobilisation from the polling-unit level.
She called on APC women to support President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and other party candidates in the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
The mobilisation includes support for APC governorship candidate Rt. Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chindah, his running mate, Hon. Major Jack, and the party’s National Assembly and State House of Assembly candidates.
Iyeuwa stressed that women must move beyond political participation to strategic engagement with their communities.
“We must listen to our communities. We must communicate the Renewed Hope achievements and vision and, most importantly, encourage peaceful, responsible and informed participation,” she said.
She described women as central to grassroots mobilisation and urged them to take an active role in the electoral process.
Rivers APC Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, who served as chief host, also urged the women to organise strategically across the state.
“When women organise, communities move. When women participate, democracy becomes stronger. When women vote, families and communities have a voice in determining their future,” he said.
Chairman of the Board of the South-South Development Commission and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Prince Chibudom Nwunche, said women were strategically positioned to communicate government policies and programmes within their communities.
Nwunche said the Renewed Hope Agenda had made progress and pledged his continued support for the mobilisation of Rivers women.
The programme brought together APC women leaders, party executives, ward and local government coordinators and other stakeholders.
The mobilisation is part of wider efforts by the APC campaign structure to strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 elections.
