Baba Ijesha accuses Mr Latin of abandoning him after prison release

Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has accused the President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Bolaji Amusan, aka Mr Latin, of distancing himself from him after his release from prison.

Baba Ijesha made the allegation in a viral video recorded during an event in Ogun State on Wednesday, where he described Mr Latin as a close friend and brother but accused him of refusing to maintain contact with him after his release.

The actor, who was released from prison in November 2025 after his conviction for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, claimed he called Mr Latin more than 25 times after his release but received little response.

“Mr Latin, my brother, you’re an opportunist; you just take opportunities as they come. I’ll shock all of you here tonight: when I was released from prison, I called my brother, Mr Latin, more than twenty-five times, and his response was, ‘Hello, I’m in a meeting,’” he said.

Baba Ijesha said he expected Mr Latin to visit him or offer him accommodation after his release, adding that he did not take offence at the alleged treatment.

He also described Mr Latin as a good person who was afraid of getting into trouble.

“All I’m saying here today, record it and play it back to him: I’m not afraid of him, because a dog that won’t bark won’t lose its teeth. With everything I’ve said, I swear on the stage, Mr Latin, calm down,” Baba Ijesha said.

Reacting to the viral video, Mr Latin confirmed that he was aware of the allegations but declined to respond to them.

“I saw the video, but I have no comment or reaction to it,” the TAMPAN president said.

Baba Ijesha was released from prison in November 2025 following his conviction over the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl and was subsequently included on the Lagos State sex offenders’ register.

Since his release, the actor has continued to make public appearances, including visits to prominent Nigerians.
