Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has declared Thursday and Friday as work-free days to pave way for people to prepare themselves for a peaceful Governorship election in the State.
The governor made the declaration during the 2021 Public Service Day Celebration, held at the Jerome Udeorji Secretariat Complex, Awka, the state capital.
Obiano said the public holidays are to enable the state workforce to prepare themselves for Saturday’s governorship election.
He urged workers to mobilize their neighbors because the election must hold.
He commended the state workforce for the cooperation between them and his administration, stressing that he has fulfilled his promises to them and added more.
He reiterated that he has the desire of having Professor Soludo succeed him in the government and urged them to vote for him, stressing that his support for Soludo was a result of his pedigree and confidence in his ability to develop and manage Anambra resources.
He assured that he would perform better than others if elected.
The Head of Service of the state, Barrister Harry Uduh in his speech said that Governor Obiano has kept faith with Anambra workers since inception of his administration, pointing out that the Governor has been consistent with payment of salaries, pensions, leave allowances, periodic civil service trainings among other incentives.
Anambra: Obiano insists Soludo remains his successor
The APGA candidate in Saturday’s gubernatorial election, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, flanked by his running mate, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, promised to stand on the foundation laid by Governor Obiano for consolidation and continuity.
He said his plans for job creation for a greater number of Ndi Anambra was a way of maintaining the pride of the state.
While described civil servants as the foundation of every government, Soludo said that if elected, he will implement salary and other payments adjustments, once the finances of the can carry the adjustment
He, therefore, called on the state workforce to come out and exercise their franchise in Saturday’s election which he said is very critical to the progress and development of the state.
