Lagos man caught with PVCs buried inside soakaway

As the 2023 election inches closer, a man has been found to be in possession of numerous Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Araromi Ale community of Oko Afon area, Badagry, Lagos State.

According to reports, the man reportedly buried the PVCs inside the soakaway.

A video sighted by this newspaper showed people chastising the man and instructing him to bring out the PVCs.
The offence is in contravention of Section 117 of the Electoral Act 2022.

Witnesses said the man would be handed over to the police.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has advised people who have registered for their PVCs to collect them, saying, “no PVC, no vote.”

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Katsina State, Ibrahim Yahaya-Makarfi, a professor, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina on Sunday.

According to him, the commission will not allow anyone to vote during the 2023 general elections without presenting his/her PVCs at polling centres.
