Lifestyle audit: What class of Nigerians should be affected?

A social media aide to the President, Lauretta Onochie has announced that graft agencies in the country have been authorised to carry out lifestyle audit on Nigerians who flaunt lifestyles they cannot afford.

Onochie made the announcement via her verified Twitter handle on Monday.

“Lifestyle Audit is now legal in Nigeria. Those who flaunt lifestyles they cannot afford, can now be investigated by any of the graft agencies to produce evidence of the sources of their wealth. You can now be called upon to explain how you acquired certain properties,” she tweeted.

Reacting to the announcement, most Twitter users knocked Onochie and clamoured that the exercise began from her and other members of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

@oscaroshare tweeted: “lifestyle audit is great. Many people in Lekki are already exiting the WhatsApp group. This is why they will not stop hating Buhari and his Fulani people.”

@afrikuz tweeted: “I support Lauretta Onochie on this one. Lifestyle Audit must begin from the slums, the poverty and hardship has to be investigated, despite the Billions and trillions Buhari and the mafia keep budgeting yearly. We need to investigate the poverty in our land.”

@itisizumichaels tweeted: “Arewa Twitter and it’s people are being witch-hunted with this lifestyle audit ..Lauretta Onochie, why ???”

@omalabab tweeted: “Begin the lifestyle audit with those in govt. You’d be surprised.”
