Low Sales Push Shoprite out of Nigeria
South African chain store retailer, Shoprite, is leaving Nigeria due to a decline in their sales. This is a direct result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Currently, they have several outlets in Nigeria but they have stated that they would not continue operating in the country.
In a trading statement released on Monday, Shoprite says that they are considering the potential sale of all or at least the majority stake in their Nigerian supermarkets. This is coming after 15 years of operations in the country.
They assured that further updates will be provided at an appropriate time.
