Makinde’s chief of staff resigns

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned, becoming the latest top government aide to leave the administration in the past two months.
Ogunwuyi announced his resignation in a letter dated Monday, October 12, 2026, stating that his departure took immediate effect.
The resignation comes amid a series of exits by aides of the governor in recent weeks, although Ogunwuyi did not give any specific reason for his decision.
In the letter addressed to Makinde, the former chief of staff expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state and praised the administration’s performance.
“I respectfully write to resign my appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, with effect from today, 12th October, 2026,” he wrote.
Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, said he was proud to have contributed to the state’s development during his time in government.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” he stated.
He added that he was leaving with gratitude and confidence in the state’s continued progress.
“Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest esteem and unwavering loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the letter read.
Ogunwuyi’s departure raises further questions about the recent exits of government aides, though no link between the resignations has been established publicly.
