Man bags four years jail term for fraud

An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court sitting in Isabo on Friday sentenced a 47-year-old man, Olaniyan Ashimolowo, to four years imprisonment for defrauding a woman of N420,000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Olajumoke Somefun, noted that all evidence in court proved beyond reasonable doubt that the convict was guilty of the charges.

Somefun, thereafter, sentenced Ashimolowo, who had pleaded guilty to a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and stealing, to four years imprisonment without option of fine.

Earlier the Prosecutor, ASP Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that the convict committed the offences on April 14, 2021, at Oke-ilewo, Kuto in Abeokuta.
